Cyber Insurance Policies and Coverage
As our visiting scholar, Ben Lawsky's research into cyber insurance policies examines how policy language differs across industries as well as between same-industry clients, and introduces scenario planning to evaluate how well coverage matches the scope of potential catastrophic and interconnected cyber incidents.

Visiting Scholar, Stanford Cyber Initiative
Mr. Lawsky was New York State’s Superintendent of Financial Services from 2011-2015 where he regulated all New York State-chartered banks, the majority of United States-based branches and agencies of foreign banking institutions, and all insurance companies in New York. He also regulated all of New York State’s mortgage brokers and bankers, check cashers, money transmitters, and similar providers of financial services. In this role, Mr. Lawsky supervised more than 3,800 entities, with assets of more than $7 trillion, and ran an agency with more than 1,400 employees and an operating budget of approximately $250 million.
George Triantis
Charles J. Meyers Professor of Law and Business
George Triantis is an expert in the fields of contracts, commercial law, business law, and bankruptcy. He was the Eli Goldston Professor of Law at Harvard Law School before joining the Stanford faculty in 2011, and he has since then returned from time to time as the Sullivan & Cromwell Visiting Professor of Law at Harvard.
