Digital Tech Camp
GDPI & ICNL Host Digital Tech Camp
Digital Tech Camp Summary
February 2-4, 2020
The 3-day event, brought together a cohort of civil society advocates from developing and post-conflict democracies, to deepen their understanding of nascent technologies and digital policy issues that may present risks to civic space, free expression and privacy. Participants engaged with technologists, policy experts, and thought leaders from relevant domains. They examined the growing impact of digital technology on civic life and contemplated emerging policy responses in different parts of the world. Participants developed plans to elevate concerns about implications of digital technology for human rights and civil society in their own countries.
The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law was founded in 1992 as one of the first organizations to focus on the legal environment aspect of civic space. ICNL works with partners from civil society, government, and the international community developing long-term relationships to advance reforms.
The Global Digital Policy Incubator (GDPi) is committed to advancing policy and governance innovations that reinforce democratic values, universal human rights, and the rule of law in the digital realm. Situated within the Cyber Policy Center at Stanford University, GDPI serves as a multistakeholder collaboration hub for the development of norms, guidelines, and laws that enhance freedom, security, and trust in the global digital ecosystem.
