Biography

Prior to Stanford, Ash was a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley where he assisted Professor Daniel Sargent on research and book projects pertaining to U.S. foreign policy and transnational criminal law enforcement. Ash holds a BA in Economics and International Relations from the University of Southern California. He has worked in the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs and conducted research on vaccine diplomacy with Steven Lamy, the former Director of the University of Southern California School of International Relations.

Ash comes to GTG with a wide range of operations experience, dating back to his time in college running business development operations at Dialogue, a Michelin-starred and James Beard Award-winning restaurant in Santa Monica, CA. He carried this business experience with him to the multi-stage investment firm WiLab, where he led the ANA Air Restaurant, an international culinary project with the mission to bridge the culture and culinary talents of the United States and Japan through collaborative pop-up meals in the Bay Area. Shortly after graduating from college, Ash moved to NYC and began work at BODE, a CFDA award-winning luxury menswear brand specializing in one-of-a-kind, handcrafted clothing cut from antique fabrics and tailor-made in New York. As manager of Special Projects, Ash spearheaded the launch of the Bode Tailor Shop and Aujla’s Indian Coffee House. In addition to his experience in the fashion and hospitality industries, Ash has written for Eater LA about the hottest new restaurants in Los Angeles and occasionally, the best fried chicken sandwiches in the city.
